Online exam and certification platform for a certification provider

As organizations increasingly rely on digital learning, the need for secure, scalable online examination systems becomes critical. It’s not just about delivering tests, it’s about ensuring fairness, reliability, and a consistent user experience.

ESSPERTA, a company focused on improving knowledge-sharing and organizational learning, needed a solution that would allow clients to create, manage, and deliver online exams and certifications across different environments and user groups.

The goal was to build more than a simple testing tool. The platform needed to support:

• Multiple organizations (multi-tenancy)
• Multiple languages (global usability)
• End-to-end exam workflows

We worked closely with ESSPERTA to define a system that would cover the full lifecycle from exam creation to certification delivery while keeping the experience intuitive for both administrators and users.

The solution was structured into three core modules:

• Exam definition – creating and managing assessments
• Exam taking – delivering a smooth and controlled user experience
• Certification – issuing results and validating outcomes

This modular approach ensured that each part of the system could evolve independently while still working seamlessly together.

One of the most demanding aspects of the project was ensuring exam integrity.

Online assessments introduce risks that don’t exist in traditional environments. To address this, we implemented multiple synchronization and validation checks designed to reduce opportunities for cheating and ensure consistent exam conditions.

This wasn’t just a feature, it was essential for maintaining trust in the certification process.

We implemented the platform as a single-page application in Angular, supported by a .NET backend and MS SQL Server database.

This architecture enabled:

• Fast, responsive user interactions
• Clear separation of concerns
• A system capable of scaling across multiple tenants and use cases

For ESSPERTA, this meant the platform could grow with their clients without requiring fundamental redesign.

The system was built with multi-tenancy at its core, allowing multiple organizations to use the platform independently while sharing the same infrastructure.

At the same time, full multi-language support ensured accessibility across different markets.

This combination made the solution suitable for international deployment, without adding complexity for end users. The system ended up going live with clients in Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and more.

The project didn’t stop at implementation. We supported ESSPERTA with:

• Deployment to production environments
• On-premise installations for specific client needs

This ensured the system could be used in different operational contexts, giving the client flexibility without compromising reliability.

By the end of the engagement, ESSPERTA had a fully functional, scalable online examination platform that supported real-world usage across organizations and regions.

The solution enabled:

• Reduced operational risk in online assessments

Most importantly, it provided a system that doesn’t just deliver exams - but ensures they are fair, secure, and ready to scale.
